These clinical practice guidelines provide evidence-informed recommendations for the prophylaxis of persons at risk of infection by SARS-COV-2; for the identification of markers and risk factors for mortality in patients with mild or moderate COVID-19; screening for COVID-19; handling at home; the use of diagnostic images to guide management; drug treatment; the use of supplements; prophylactic anticoagulation, and criteria for follow-up and medical discharge. The recommendations are addressed to all health personnel who care for patients in the emergency department and in primary care (general practitioners, specialists in emergency medicine, pulmonology, internal medicine, family medicine and infectology, as well as respiratory and physical therapists, nurses and pharmaceutical chemists, among others). The recommendations are directed to decision makers and members of government entities related to the management of patients with COVID-19. These guidelines do not address issues related to nutrition and management of complications.
