Abstract
This document provides a brief review of the situation of HIV/aids and of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in the Americas. Among the subjects covered are appropriate care models for HIV/aids, including acce3ss to antiretroviral drugs; preventing transmission from mother to child; improved activities for preventing and controlling STIs; and interprogram activities to guarantee the safety of donated blood and blood products
