The objective of the eHealth Strategy and Plan of Action (2012-2017) is to help ensure the sustainable development of the Member States’ health systems, including veterinary public health. Adoption of the eHealth Strategy and Plan of Action is envisaged as a means of improving health services access and quality, based on the use of information and communications technologies (ICTs), the development of digital literacy and ICTs, access to information based on scientific evidence and ongoing training, and the use of various methods. This will facilitate progress toward the goal of societies that are more informed, equitable, competitive, and democratic. In such societies access to health information is considered a basic right of the people. This strategy is based on Resolution WHA58.28 (2005) of the World Health Organization (WHO), adopted at the Fifty-Eighth World Health Assembly, which established the linchpins of the WHO eHealth Strategy.
