Abstract
This practical guide for measles elimination is intended to provide health authorities, medical officials, and other health workers involved in measles elimination at the national, state, and local levels with a detailed instruction manual on how to establish and implement activities to eliminate measles. The second edition of this guide incorporates the experiences acquired over the past 12 years in the countries of the Region of the Americas, but can be used by any country seeking to eliminate measles. It also presents the vaccination and epidemiological surveillance strategies necessary to eliminate measles and to continuously monitor progress in achieving and maintaining this goal. Some of the measures described may require adaptation to local conditions. Several prototype forms are included in the annexes that can be copied or modified according to particular needs.
