Resumo
This report analyzes the occurrence of rabies in humans and animals, negative tests, and public health actions in the countries of the Americas. Data on human occurrence allow for analyses that show the results of control actions implemented by the countries, while data on animal occurrences and negative tests demonstrate the efforts made in epidemiological surveillance. Data on public health actions add to data on human and animal cases to illustrate how countries are responding to the reality of the disease in the region. As presented in the previous Report on the Situation of Rabies in the Americas 2017 to 2022, over the years, the data entered into the SIRVERA have undergone changes, thus generating heterogeneity in the information reported in the system over decades. For this reason, different methodologies have been used to gather and analyze information.
