Since the last quarter of 2021, countries in the Region of the Americas have received an increasing number of COVID-19 vaccines, which has been key to rapidly addressing gaps in vaccination coverage. However, this situation has led, in some cases, to a considerable increase in vaccine stockpiles. This publication provides countries with recommendations for the review and adaptation of COVID-19 vaccination strategies to ensure that doses are used optimally before reaching their expiration date. It also aims to help close gaps in vaccination coverage, mitigate hospitalization and mortality risks, and leverage investments in the cold chain to reach remote areas and vulnerable populations.en_US
