The consumption of alcohol during adolescence can disrupt healthy and vital growth, lead to unhealthy behaviors, and increase the risk of alcohol-related disorders in adulthood. This factsheet presents information about alcohol consumption among adolescents in the Region of the Americas and how adolescents are vulnerable to the effects caused by alcohol use. It also highlights few factors that can influence adolescent drinking and provide key recommendations to prevent alcohol use and its related harms.
