Abstract
[WEEKLY SUMMARY]. North America: Influenza activity remained at low levels, and SARS-CoV-2 and RSV activity continued to rise. In Mexico, positivity for influenza with a predominance of influenza A (H3N2) viruses continued to decrease, and positivity for SARS-CoV-2 continued to increase, with ILI and SARI activity at moderate intensity levels. In the United States, influenza activity was low, with influenza A(H3N2) viruses predominating; and there was a steep increase in SARS-CoV-2 activity with higher COVID-19-associated hospitalizations. Caribbean: Influenza activity remained low, with influenza A(H3N2) predominating. Haiti and the Dominican Republic reported increased SARS-CoV-2 activity, with higher RSV counts in the last one. In Haiti, SARI cases were higher than the number expected for the period. Central America: Influenza and RSV activity increased in the subregion and remained moderate in El Salvador and Nicaragua, with a predominance of influenza A(H3N2). SARS-CoV-2 activity remained moderate and rising in all countries. In Guatemala, ILI activity was at high levels and was associated with the co-circulation of influenza and SARS-CoV-2 in previous weeks. Andean: Influenza activity remained low with A(H3N2) predominance and circulation above epidemic levels in Bolivia and Peru. SARS-CoV-2 activity increased in most countries. In Bolivia, SARI activity remains high and is associated with the co-circulation of influenza, SARS-CoV-2, and RSV. In general, RSV case counts remained elevated in the subregion. Brazil and Southern Cone: Influenza with A(H3N2) predominance remained at moderate levels, with circulation in Chile and Uruguay. SARS-CoV-2 activity remained at moderate levels and increased in all countries. Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay reported SARI activity above the epidemic threshold, with RSV and SARS-CoV-2 predominance in Chile and Paraguay; and SARS-CoV-2 predominance in Uruguay. RSV percent positivity continued to increase in the subregion.
