Abstract
[WEEKLY SUMMARY]. North America: Overall, influenza activity remained at low levels, and SARS-CoV-2 activity continued to decline. In Canada, influenza A (subtype undetermined) and influenza/B viruses co-circulated. The percentage of positivity for SARS-CoV-2 was slightly higher than the previous week. In Mexico, influenza activity has decreased, and influenza A(H3N2) predominates. SARS-CoV-2 percent positivity decreased. In the United States, influenza activity increases in most parts of the country, although levels remain low. Influenza A(H3N2) and B viruses co-circulated. SARS-CoV-2 activity continues to decrease, and mortality remains high. Caribbean: Influenza activity remained low with influenza A(H3N2) predominating. SARS-CoV-2 percent positivity increased in Martinique, decreased in Haiti and Dominica, and remained at levels observed in the previous week in Jamaica, Saint Lucia, and Suriname. Central America: Influenza activity remained low. In Nicaragua, influenza percent positivity increased slightly but remained at low-intensity levels. SARS-CoV-2 activity decreased in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. Andean: Overall, influenza activity decreased with few A(H3N2) detections. In Bolivia, Ecuador, and Peru, the percentage of positivity for influenza increased and was at low-intensity levels. Overall, percent positivity increased slightly, but the SARS-CoV-2 activity decreased in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Increased respiratory syncytial virus activity was observed in the subregion. Brazil and Southern Cone: Influenza activity continued at low levels; however, a higher influenza percent positivity was observed at extraordinary intensity levels in Argentina; influenza activity increased slightly at low-intensity levels in Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay. SARS-CoV-2 activity and percentage positivity decreased in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Uruguay. Increased respiratory syncytial virus activity was observed in the subregion.
