Abstract
[WEEKLY SUMMARY]. North America: Influenza activity remained low overall. In Canada, SARS-CoV-2 activity continued at moderate levels and RSV detections continue to increase. In Mexico, SARI and SARS-CoV-2 activity continued elevated but decreased slightly. In the United States, SARS-CoV-2 mortality continues above expected levels and detections continue elevated but decreasing. Caribbean: Influenza activity remained low overall. In Belize, Puerto Rico and Saint Lucia, SARS-CoV-2 activity continues elevated but decreased slightly this week. Central America: Influenza activity remained low. SARS-CoV-2 activity continued at moderate levels overall however activity continues to increase in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Andean: Influenza activity remained low overall. SARS-CoV-2 activity continued at moderate levels overall and decreasing. Brazil and Southern Cone: Influenza activity remained low overall. SARS-CoV-2 activity continued at moderate levels and decreasing. Global: influenza activity remained at lower levels than expected for this time of the year. In the temperate zones of the southern hemisphere and in the temperate zones of the northern hemisphere, influenza activity remained at inter-seasonal levels. A few influenza detections were reported in some countries in Western, Middle, and Eastern Africa in tropical Africa. In Southern Asia, influenza detections of predominately influenza A(H3N2) continued to increase in India and Nepal. In Southeast Asia, no influenza detections were reported in this period. Worldwide, influenza A and B viruses were detected in similar proportions.
