Guidelines for the use of REPIDISCA data bases in PAHO\CD-ROM

Abstract

[Introduction] The bibliographic data base of the Pan American Network for Sanitary Engineering and Environmental Sciences (REPIDISCA), holds the documents of all Cooperating Centers and CEPIS Library, including 1991. There are 70,000 references, increasing at an annual rate of 5,000 in English, Spanish, Portuguese and German. The bibliographic data base contains non-conventional documents of restricted circulation such as: technical reports and standards, videos, software, legislation, papers presented at conferences, produced in Latin America and the Caribbean. It also contains a selection of books and journals specialized in sanitary engineering and environmental sciences, which are produced at an international level. This data base is recorded in the PAHO/CD-ROM. This is a Compact Disk Read Only Memory, derived from the compact digital audio disk, and offers the possibility of storing large amounts of data, instead of music. […] These guidelines explain the options available to retrieve information from REPIDISCA Bibliographic Data Base. Most of the instructions have been extracted from documentation included in the PAHO/CD-ROM provided by BIREME.
