This fact sheet presents some stark facts about the link between alcohol use and suicide. It explains how alcohol consumption affects people’s mood and greatly increases the risks of both attempted and actual suicide, risks exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. It stresses the importance of drinking less and of finding help to deal with alcohol-use disorders.
