This brief fact sheet examines five important facts about alcohol consumption and its implications for the development of cancer. The facts relate to: the types of cancer that alcohol use can cause; how these cancers may be different for men and women; the level of alcohol consumption and the degree of risk; how a combination of alcohol and tobacco exacerbates the risks; and how cancers due to alcohol can be prevented, also with the help of regulations.
