[Introduction] The Secretariat of the Advisory Committee on Health Research (ACHR) convened the 41st Meeting of the Committee at the request of the Director of the Pan American Sanitary Bureau (PASB), Dr. Mirta Roses Periago, as a follow-up to the 40th Meeting of the ACHR held in Montego Bay, Jamaica, from 29 April to 1 May 2007.
