Abstract
Since the first confirmed cases of COVID-19 until 13 April 2021, a cumulative total of 136,115,434 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported globally, including 2,936,916 deaths, representing a total of 19,378,997 additional confirmed cases and 343,631 additional deaths since the last PAHO/WHO Epidemiological Update on COVID-19 published on 11 March 2021. Of the total cumulative confirmed cases globally, the highest number of cases was reported the week of 4 January 2021 with 5,044,021 cases, which represented a weekly relative increase of 20.99% compared to the previous week. Regarding deaths, the highest number was observed during the week of 11 January 2021 with 96,031 reported deaths, representing a 10.21% relative increase compared to the previous week. Following the week of 4 January 2021, the epidemic case curve showed a sustained decrease that was maintained for 6 weeks, then showed another weekly increase from the beginning of March to date.
 
Desde la confirmación de los primeros casos de COVID-19 hasta el 13 de abril de 2021, fueron notificados 136.115.434 casos acumulados confirmados de COVID-19, incluidas 2.936.916 defunciones en todo el mundo, lo que representa un total de 19.378.997 casos confirmados adicionales de COVID-19, incluidas 343.631 defunciones, desde la última actualización epidemiológica publicada por la OPS/OMS el 11 de marzo de 2021. Del total de casos confirmados acumulados a nivel global, el número más alto de casos fue notificado la semana que se inició el 4 de enero de 2021 con 5.044.021 casos, lo que representó un porcentaje semanal de cambio de 20.99%, con relación a la semana previa.
