Abstract
On 31 December 2019, Wuhan Municipality in Hubei Province, China reported a cluster of pneumonia cases with unknown etiology. By the 9th of January 2020, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention identified a novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as the causative agent of this outbreak. On 30 January 2020, with more than 9,700 confirmed cases in China and 106 confirmed cases in 19 other countries, the World Health Organization (WHO) Director General declared the outbreak a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC), accepting the advices of the International Health Regulations (IHR) Emergency Committee. Between 31 December 2019 and 4 February 2020, a total of 20,630 laboratory-confirmed cases of 2019-nCoV cases have been reported in 24 countries, though majority of the cases continue to be reported from China (99%). A total of 425 deaths have been reported of which only 1 was reported from outside China – in the Philippines. Infections with 2019-nCoV, are being reported from a growing number of international destinations since the last Epidemiological update, most of them associated with travel from Wuhan, China. As of 4 February, 23 countries reported a total 159 confirmed cases of which 24 cases did not have travel history to China: Malaysia (1), Viet Nam (2), Japan (3), Germany (8), United States of America (2), United Kingdom (1), Thailand (1), France (1), Spain (1), and Republic of Korea (4) but are close contacts of confirmed case of 2019-nCoV or Chinese tourists of Wuhan.
 
El 31 de diciembre de 2019, el municipio de Wuhan en la provincia de Hubei, China, informó un grupo de casos de neumonía con etiología desconocida. Para el 9 de enero de 2020, el Centro Chino para el Control y la Prevención de Enfermedades identificó un nuevo coronavirus (2019-nCoV) como el agente causante de este brote. El 30 de enero de 2020, con más de 9.700 casos confirmados en China y 106 casos confirmados en otros 19 países, el Director General de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) declaró el brote como una emergencia de salud pública de importancia internacional (ESPII), aceptando la recomendación del Comité de Emergencia del Reglamento Sanitario Internacional (2005). Entre el 31 de diciembre de 2019 y el 4 de febrero de 2020, se notificaron un total de 20,630 casos confirmados por laboratorio de infección por el 2019-nCoV en 24 países, aunque la mayoría de los casos (99%) se siguen informando desde China. Se ha notificado un total de 425 muertes, de las cuales solo 1 ocurrió fuera de China, en Filipinas. Desde la última actualización epidemiológica publicada el 27 de enero de 2020, se ha reportado un número creciente de infecciones por 2019-nCoV, la mayoría de ellas asociadas con las visitas realizadas a Wuhan, China. Hasta el 4 de febrero, 23 países informaron un total de 159 casos confirmados, de los cuales 24 casos no tenían antecedentes de viaje a China: Malasia (1), Vietnam (2), Japón (3), Alemania (8), Estados Unidos de América (2), Reino Unido (1), Tailandia (1), Francia (1), España (1) y República de Corea (4) y corresponden a contactos cercanos de casos confirmados de 2019-nCoV con antecedente de viaje o turistas chinos provenientes de Wuhan.
