Abstract
Following the epidemic in Colombia last year, with a total of 82 cases and 35 deaths as of 31 December 2003, the presence of a yellow fever epizootic was confirmed on that same day among monkeys in Los Besotes Ecological Park in the federal Department of Cesar. Also in this Department, four human cases of yellow fever were confirmed during said epidemic; and a previous epizootic occurred in the vicinity of the Maracas River, near the Campo Alegre indigenous reservation, in the city of Becerril.
 
Tras la epidemia sufrida en Colombia el año pasado, que contó con un acumulado de 82 casos y 35 muertes hasta el 31 de diciembre de 2003, se confirmó este mismo día la presencia de una epizootia de fiebre amarilla en monos procedentes del Parque Ecológico Los Besotes, en el departmento federal de Cesar. En este departamento se habían confirmado 4 casos de fiebre amarilla en humanos durante dicha epidemia y otra epizootia anterior que tuvo lugar en las cercanías de río Maracas, en las proximidades del resguardo indígena de Campo Alegre, municipio de Becerril.
