Since 10 September 2003 to date, 25 new laboratory-confirmed cases have been reported to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). The cumulative number of cases this year is 209, with 96 deaths. This is the highest number of cases reported in the Region since 1998. Desde 10 de septiembre de 2003 hasta la fecha, se han notificado a la Organización Panamericana de la Salud (OPS) 25 nuevos casos confirmados por laboratorio. El total de casos acumulados en este año alcanza los 209, con 96 defunciones. Éste es el mayor número de casos notificados en la Región desde 1998.
