Epidemiological Alert, Update on Influenza and Yellow Fever in the Americas and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) (12 November 2003)

Abstract

United States (USA): During Epidemiological Week (EW) 44 (from 25 October to 1 November 2003), the overall proportion of patient visits to sentinel providers for flu-like symptoms or influenza-like illness (ILI) was 2.2%, less than the national baseline of 2.5%. Of the total deaths occurring in the country, 6.3% were attributed to pneumonias and influenza.

Estados Unidos (EUA): Durante la Semana Epidemiológica (SE) 44 (25 de octubre al 1ero de noviembre), el 2,2% de las visitas de pacientes a médicos centinela fue debida a síndromes pseudo-gripales o enfermedades de tipo influenza (ESI), encontrándose por debajo del valor nacional de referencia para esta semana (2,5%). El 6,3% del total de defunciones ocurridas en el país fueron atribuidas a neumonías e influenza.
