According to the Ministry of Health of Peru, since June 2003 there has been an increase in the number of malaria cases produced by Plasmodium vivax in the District of San Juan del Oro (Province of Sandia, Puno), which has been reported by the health authorities as an outbreak. Said outbreak began on 20 June 2003 and has continued to the present time, although there has been a decline in the number of cases over the past few weeks. De acuerdo con el Ministerio de Salud de Perú, desde junio de 2003 se ha producido un aumento del número de casos de Malaria producida por Plasmodium vivax en el Distrito de San Juan del Oro (Provincia de Sandia, Puno), que ha sido notificado por las autoridades sanitarias como un brote. El brote tuvo inicio el 20 de Junio de 2003 y continúa hasta la fecha, aunque se observa una tendencia descendente en el número de casos en las últimas semanas.
