Since our last update of 26 February 2004, 1 new human case of avian influenza has been reported, bringing the total to 33 cases and 22 deaths. To date, 2 Asian countries have reported human cases; and 8 countries, epizootics of Influenza A Subtype H5N1 in birds. The outbreaks detected in the 2 states in the USA and 1 province in Canada are now laboratory confirmed and do not correspond to highly pathogenic Avian Influenza A Subtype H5N1 currently circulating in Asia Desde nuestra última actualización (del 26 de febrero de 2004), se ha notificado 1 nuevo caso de influenza aviar en humanos, lo que hace un total de 33 casos y 22 muertes. Hasta el momento, 2 países asiáticos han notificado casos en humanos; y 8 países, epizootias de influenza H5N1 en aves. Dos estados con brotes notificados en EUA y el brote de Canadá han sido confirmados por laboratorio y no corresponden a la cepa de influenza aviar altamente patógena (H5N1) que circula en los países asiáticos.
