On 15 January 2007 the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare of Paraguay (MSPBS) declared an epidemiological alert for the entire nation in light of the number of dengue cases and the real possibility of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) cases. On 20 January 2007, the first two fatalities from DHF were reported. El 15 de enero de 2007 el Ministerio de Salud Pública y Bienestar Social de Paraguay (MSPBS) declaró alerta epidemiológica en todo el territorio paraguayo ante los casos de dengue y la posibilidad real de ocurrencia de casos hemorrágicos de la enfermedad. El 20 de enero del 2007 se reportaron los 2 primeros casos fatales por dengue hemorrágico.
