Since April 2007, the National Yellow Fever Alert System in Brazil has registered an increase of epizootics (animal epidemics) in monkeys in nine states considered at risk for the yellow fever (YF) virus, including Goiás State, where the national capital of Brasília is located and where animal cases have been laboratory confirmed for YF. Desde principios de abril de 2007, el Sistema Nacional de Alerta de Fiebre Amarilla de Brasil registró un incremento de epizootias en monos en nueve estados considerados de riesgo para la circulación de virus de fiebre amarilla, incluyendo el Estado de Goiás, donde está localizada la capital nacional de Brasilia y donde inclusive hubo confirmación por laboratorio de fiebre amarilla en los animales.
