Epidemiological Alert, Update on Rotavirus Diarrheal Syndrome (19 May 2010)

Abstract

Over the past month, we have been detecting the appearance of confirmed outbreaks of acute diarrheal disease caused by rotavirus in several countries of the Region. In view of this situation, which is occurring in the period of greatest viral circulation, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) recommends strengthening surveillance and implementing recommendations that contribute to controlling the spread of the disease.

En el último mes, se ha estado detectando la aparición de brotes confirmados de enfermedad diarreica aguda causada por rotavirus en países de la región. Frente a esta situación, que ocurre en la temporada de mayor circulación del virus, la Organización Panamericana de la Salud (OPS) recomienda reforzar la vigilancia e implementar las recomendaciones que contribuyen a controlar la diseminación de la enfermedad.
