From the first of January up to Epidemiological Week (EW) 15, 2009 (16 April 2009), a total of 234,106 cases of dengue have been reported, including 3,778 cases of severe dengue (dengue hemorrhagic fever, dengue shock syndrome, and complicated dengue) and 74 deaths, with a Regional fatality rate of 1.90%. To date, 36% (n = 25) of the total number of deaths have been concentrated in Bolivia, followed by Brazil, where 34% of the deaths occurred (n = 25). Table 1 shows the data reported by subregion. Desde el 1 de enero y hasta la Semana Epidemiológica (SE) Nº 15 (16 de abril de 2009), se han reportado 234.106 casos de dengue, incluyendo 3.778 casos de dengue grave (dengue hemorrágico, síndrome de shock por dengue y dengue con complicaciones) y 74 defunciones, con una tasa de letalidad Regional de 1,90%. Bolivia concentra 34% (n=25) del total de fallecidos a la fecha. El Cuadro No. 1 describe los datos notificados por subregiones.
