As of 28 October 2010, the Ministry of Public Health and Population of Haiti has recorded a total of 4,6491 cholera cases, including 305 deaths, at the national level. The departments which currently have cases are Artibonite, Central, Nord-Est, Nord, and Ouest. Additionally, Artibonite is the department with the highest cumulative incidence rate (31 cases/10,000 inhabitants), followed by Central (19 cases/10,000 inhabitants), and North-Est (0.5 cases/10,000 inhabitants). The epidemic has shown a rapid progression since its detection in Artibonite, as demonstrated on the following map. Among hospitalized cases, the highest percentage (89%) corresponds to patients 5 years of age and older, and there is no percentage difference by gender. The daily case fatality rate observed among hospitalized patients in the department of Artibonite falls in a range between 2.10 % and 5.73%. Al 28 de octubre el Ministerio de Salud Publica y Población de Haití registró un total de 4,6491casos, incluido 305 defunciones por cólera a nivel de todo el país. Los departamentos que actualmente registran casos son Artibonite, Central, Nord-Est, Nord y Ouest, siendo Artibonite el departamento con la mayor tasa de incidencia acumulada (31 casos por 10.000 hab), seguido de Central (19 casos/10.000 hab) y Nord-Est (0,5 casos/10.000 hab). La epidemia muestra una rápida progresión desde su detección en Artibonite tal como se muestra en el mapa a continuación. Entre los pacientes hospitalizados, el mayor porcentaje (89%) corresponde a pacientes de 5 o más años de edad y no se observa diferencia por sexo. La tasa de letalidad diaria observadaentre los pacientes hospitalizados del departamento de Artibonite se encuentra en un rango entre 2,10 a 5,73 %.
