After the confirmation of the first human cases of avian influenza A(H7N9) virus infection on 31 March 2013, the Chinese health authorities have continued to notify WHO of additional laboratory-confirmed cases of human infection with influenza A(H7N9) virus. As of 5 April, the total number of confirmed cases is sixteen including six deaths. The age range is 4 to 87 (median = 50). Six cases are female and ten male. Cases are from Anhui (1), Zhejiang (3), Shanghai (5) and Jiangsu (7) provinces of China, all of them located in the east of China. The onset of symptoms occurred from 19 February to 31 March 2013. Fifteen cases were severe and one mild (a 4 year old child). Updated information is available on the WHO Disease Outbreak News. Después de la comunicación sobre los primeros casos de infección humana por el virus de influenza aviar A(H7N9) el pasado 31 de marzo de 2013, las autoridades de salud de China han continuado notificando a la OMS sobre casos adicionales. Hasta el 5 de abril del 2013, se confirmaron un total de 16 casos de infección humana por el virus de influenza aviar A(H7N9), incluyendo seis fallecidos. Seis casos son mujeres y diez son hombres. Los casos tienen un rango de edad entre los 4 a 87 años (mediana de 50 años) y provienen de las provincias de Anhui (1), Zhejiang (3), Shanghai (5), y Jiangsu (7), todas ellas situadas al este de China. La fecha de inicio de síntomas de los casos se registró entre el 19 de febrero y el 31 de marzo de 2013. Quince casos presentaron sintomatología grave y en un caso fue leve (un niño de cuatro años).
