To prepare for the upcoming influenza season in the Caribbean and South America, it is important to consider the 2013-2014 influenza season in the Northern Hemisphere. The season was characterized by the predominance of influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 and mainly young adults were affected. Ante el inicio de la temporada de mayor circulación de la influenza en América del Sur y el Caribe, es importante tener en cuenta lo ocurrido durante la temporada 2013-2014 de influenza en el hemisferio norte, que se caracterizó por un predominio de circulación de influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 y por afectar principalmente a adultos jóvenes.
