In 2015, five countries reported cases of diphtheria: Brazil (12 cases), Canada (3 cases), Guatemala (1 case), Haiti (32 cases), and the Dominican Republic (1 case). Between epidemiological week (EW) 1 to EW 47 of 2016, three countries in the Americas had reported cases of diphtheria: the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Durante el año 2015, cinco países notificaron casos de difteria: Brasil (12 casos), Canadá (3 casos), Guatemala (1 caso), Haití (32 casos) y la República Dominicana (1 caso). Desde la semana epidemiológica (SE) 1 a la SE 47 de 2016, tres países en las Américas han notificado casos de difteria: Haití, la República Dominicana y la República Bolivariana de Venezuela.
