[Introduction] In compliance wit Resolution IV appoved at the XIV Regular Meeting of South American Commission for the Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (COSALFA), the Pan American Footh-and-Mouth Disease Center (PANAFTOSA) of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), the Ministry of Agriculture of Brazil and the University of Winsconsin, USA, jointly held the "International Seminar on the Importance of Biotechnology in Livestock Development". The following organizations also lent their cooperation: Secretariat of Agriculture of the State of Goiás, the Goiana Livestock and Agriculture Society, the State of Goiás Agriculture Federation and the Goiana Association of Zebu Raisers.
