Obesity and Poverty: A New Public Health Challenge
Abstract
[From the Preface]. The Pan American Health Organization is pleased to present this book, which includes contributions from well respected researchers in nutritional science. The book is the product of an editorial endeavor that aims at defining the problem of obesity and establishing its particular features in the region, as well as its trends and determinants; it also highlights the most promising research efforts and activities for the near future. Our support for this publication and for its dissemination underscores our commitment to integrate facts, information, research, knowledge, and action. If this message reaches the scientific community and decision makers, the objectives that sparked this publication will have been fulfilled.
