In 1978, 616 cases* of malaria were reported in the United States, a 28.3 increase over the 481 cases reported in 1977. Only 31 cases (5.1 of all cases reported in the United States) were in military personnel. As in previous years, imported plasmodium vivax cases were more common than those of P. Falciparum (64.1 as compared to 19.4 )
