[Preface / Prologo] This book details the history of Vaccination Week in the Americas over the past 10 years. It is now particularly gratifying to note that what began as the joint effort of Andean countries to control a border measles outbreak in South America in 2002 has now fully grown into a global movement. The first-ever World Immunization Week was celebrated in April 2012, as all regions worldwide have now committed to dedicating one week every year to promote vaccination activities.
