Abstract
Recognizing this situation, fulfilling the XVll Resolution of the XXXV Meeting of the Directing Council of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), and responding to the mandate expressed at the First Ibero-American Summit of Chiefs of State and Governments, the Pan American Health Organization developed the Regional Plan for Investment in the Environment and Health (PIAS) whose purpose is to incite a reform process of the environment and health sectors in the countries of the region. The reform will allow the mobilization of national and international investments necessary to overcome the delays in the developments of the mentioned sectors for the next 12 years.
