PANAFTOSA is a scientific Center of the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) has developed an important work in the control and eradication of FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE from inauguration in 1951. In 1997, technical cooperation on zoonoses was included in their mandates, and in 2007 the food safety became another area of activity. PANAFTOSA-PAHO/WHO provides technical assistance to all member countries of PAHO in the Americas to improve the health status of the population and promote the development of countries.
