By means of a questionnaire sent to maternal and child care institutions, interviews in certain cases, and other means, a study was made of the present status of perinatal care in the State of Guanabara, Brazil. Although the data obtained did not allow any important conclusions to be drawn, an abundance of valuable information about these services was collected, and in the light of this information the Committee on Perinatal Care formulated pertinent recommendations designed to improve both the quantity and quality of the maternal and child care being provided in the State of Guanabara Publicado en portugués en el Journal de Pediatria, Vol. 29, marzo-abril 1964
