Abstract
If the regional water supply program in operation in the Americas is to produce effective and lasting results, each country must have a sufficient number of well-trained personnel to man the technical and administrative services required. Even though the short courses given by PAHO/WHO do not take the place of regular academic training, they do constitute an excellent educational tool. Moreover, the holding of such courses will also stimulate the gradual development of scientific and cultural activities at the local participating unversities
