The conference was held from 24 to 30 July 1966, in Caracas, Venezuela, under the auspices of the Pan American Health Organization and the Government of Venezuela. Its objectives were: (a) to draw up a general description of the responsibilities of the professional nutritionist-dietitian in the programs of the health services; (b) to outline the essential elements in the training of such personnel; and (c) to establish the qualifications for this professional category The Final Report of the meeting includes a basic document on "The Role of the Nutritionist-Dietitian in Integrated Health Services," together with detailed recommendations on technical standards for the organization of teaching programs for these health workers, on their functions and responsibilities, and on international collaboration in training programs(AU)
