dc.description.abstractIn order to introduce standard diagnostic techniques to national virus laboratories in Central and South America and to study several aspects of smallpox vaccine production, the Pan American Sanitafy Bureau in cooperation with the Institute Adolfo Lutz (São Paulo, Brazil) and the National Communicable Disease Center (Atlanta, Georgia, USA) organized three courses at which 27 virologists participated. A seminar was also held in Rio de Janeiro in 1968 to study the results of smallpox suspect specimens examined at laboratories of the area between January 1966 and September 1968en_US
