The provision of necessary water supply and sewerage services in Latin America, at a cost compatible with the economic and social situation of the countries, will require an investment of about US$1,000,000,000 in the next 24 months. Local funds should be supplemented by contributions from international loan agencies, as a considerable increase in financial operations is foreseeable in the near future Despite the fact that the credit policies of the Inter-American Development Bank, World Bank, Agency for International Development (US), the Import-Export Bank (US) are practically alike, each agency requires the countries to observe different procedures when requesting and disbursing loans The PAHO, which acts at the local, zone, and central levels, has been actively cooperating in the technical advisory services financed from international loan funds, which has resulted in tangible benefits to the countries of the Hemisphere(AU)
