Resumen
To control environmental factors that may impede economic and social development the Ministry of Public Health of Costa Rica is undertaking the following planning types of projects: (1) sewage and waste disposal; (2) food control; (3) water quality control; (4) zoonoses control (rabies); (5) vector control (arthropods and rodents) and (6) occupational health

The first mentioned project is divided into two: (a) activities to be carried out in cantons with no sewage disposal services, designed to make good the deficit, that is, to install latrines in 42,288 dwellings; (b) activities to be carried out in localities with such services and there it is hoped to make good the 1971 deficit, that is, to connect 12,433 dwellings to the sewerage system

For this program 61 health inspectos are available and will work 49,385 inspector-hours per year(AU)
