Abstract
La regionalización a que se refiere este trabajo es un mecanismo complejo de descentralización técnica y administrativa y comprende el establecimiento de niveles de atención, que van desde el centro primario de salud de la comunidad hasta el hospital general y los policlínicos de especialidades en el nivel intermedio para alcanzar su máximo desarrollo en centros médicos nacionales. El conjunto de estos tres niveles de atención constituye el sistema regional de asistencia médica que debe ser parte integrante del sistema nacional de salud
