Abstract
In February 2007, the local PAHO Office in Guatemala in coordination with the Government’s Health Department decided to tackle the MDG's challenge in three of its most vulnerable communities: Los Angeles Pancala in El Estor. El Bongo in El Estor. Los Encuentros in San Juan Ermita. The objective of FVP Initiative in Guatemala was to demonstrate that indeed it is possible to achieve the MDG's at the community level with the commitment of the Mayor, the community participation, and the necessary technical supports, both of the Ministry and of PAHO in order to work all the MDGs from the health and development perspective. Of the three communities, the one that sets the best example for replication and systematization was Los Encuentros in San Juan Ermita.
